The Victorian has been one of Milwaukee's shining lights in a dismal season and his efforts have been rewarded by the Bucks deciding to exercise the fourth year option on his and Charlie Villanueva's rookie contracts.

Despite suffering a season-ending ankle injury in March, Bogut enjoyed a superb year in a side that finished 14th out of 15 Eastern Conference teams, with the 22-year-old averaging 12.3 points and 8.8 rebounds from 66 games while also setting his personal top-scoring record of 27 points against the Charlotte Bobcats in January.

His season has not been without controversy though, as Bogut was heavily fined by the NBA for making an obscene gesture towards his own supporters after they were critical of him during a match against the Toronto Raptors.

Bogut has also received criticism regarding his appearances for Australia as he will not be available for the upcoming FIBA Oceania Championship against New Zealand, which also acts as a Beijing Olympic Qualifier, due to the injury and his NBA obligations.

But Boomers coach Brian Goorjian says Bogut's commitment to the national team cannot be questioned.

"He's wanted to be a part of the Boomers and sees the country as very, very important," Goorjian told FIBA Daily.

"So, you know, he was straight up as soon as he went to the NBA, 'I'll be at the World Games and I'll be at the Olympics and I'm committed to Australia'."
