Latrobe City's Jeff Reid this week blew his season average of 13 points out of the water with an incredible 31 points that awards him CM Player of the Week honours for Round 14.

Despite a disappointing season that has seen the Pacers with only one win, the boys put in a competitive ball game this week that saw them lose by just nine points against Werribee, and saw Reid as the game's leading scorer and at his season best with 31 points.

Reid also performed well in defence and once again put in a team performance leading the game for assists with seven.

The Pacers will now be looking to Reid to again step up as the season races to a close, to chalk up what will hopefully result in more wins for the boys. And after performances such as this week, it seems very likely.

Other contenders this weekend included:
* Daryl Corletto put in an MVP game to remember with 23 points, eight rebounds and 11 assists for the Tigers.
* Pierre Jallow scored well at the net with 32 points in Hume City's loss against the Tigers.
* Ash Cannan once again dominated for the Rangers with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds.
* Diamond Valley had a 10-point upset over the Falcons with Michael Petridis scoring a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds, with teammate Senad Dizdarevic following closely with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
* The unflappable Sabres proved once again too strong for the Hawks with Adam Quick putting in an MVP performance of 27 points, followed by Simon Conn with 26 and George Williams scoring yet another double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds.

BIGV WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK - JULIE DEGROOT, Waverley

Waverley's Julie De Groot has continued her dominating season, notching up her third Player of the Week nomination for the year.

Following a dominating Week 13 from teammate Carleigh Evans, De Groot this week stepped up and performed again for the Falcons with a win over Geelong that allowed Waverley to finish the weekend in second, and looking likely for a chance at first.

De Groot was the undisputed MVP of the match, scoring an incredible 30 points, 17 points more than anyone else that took the court. Teamed with nine rebounds and five assists, De Groot was once again the high flyer among the Falcons, proving that she may be their recipe for success come finals time.

Other contenders this weekend included:

* Melbourne's Mel Bower with 17 points off the bench in her best game for the season.
* Sharin Milner on return from national duty with a double-double of 11 rebounds and 11 assists.
* Julie Andrea Godden in her best game of the season with 23 points and eight rebounds.
* Tegan Fowler with 30 points and 10 rebounds against Coburg, her eighth double-double of the season.
