To kick off the weekend’s action, Brent Hobba and the Dandenong Rangers took top spot on the BigV ladder with a 118-111 win over the in-form Warrnambool Seahawks on Saturday night.

Hobba scored a game-high 30 points for the Rangers, with 12 boards and four assists to round out a stellar night.

Also on the Saturday night winners’ list was Matt Burston, whose Waverley Falcons scored a massive 162-100 win over the hapless Latrobe City Pacers.

Burston tallied 12 points, 14 rebounds, five assists in the win, which sees the Falcons secure sixth spot on the ladder with just one round to play.

And in what may be his last game for Sandringham before jetting overseas with the Boomers, Joe Ingles (20 points, six boards, eight assists) helped the Sabres to a 126-84 win over Werribee on Sunday afternoon.

Ingles and Crazy John’s South Dragons teammate Simon Conn (22 points, five boards, one assist) were on fire on their home court, handing the Devils one of the most comprehensive defeats of the round.

In SEABL action, Matt Shanahan’s Ballarat Miners went down by just four points in overtime to Albury Wodonga on Saturday night, losing 120-116 in a hard-fought contest.

Down south, Guy Molloy will take an undefeated record into day three of the Australian Junior Championships in Tasmania, with his VIC Metro outfit set to take on NSW Country later tonight.

Molloy’s Under-18 charges kicked off their Championship campaign with a 93-54 defeat of New Zealand on Saturday before notching a second consecutive win over SA Country (72-44) on Sunday.

In overseas action, Shannon Seebohm has overcome illness to join the Emus for the final two games of the four-nation event in Caceres, Spain.

Seebohm sat out the Emus’ 79-70 win over the host nation before retuning to the line-up with 14 points in the team’s 73-70 loss to China and 12 points in their 79-71 loss to France.

Seebohm and the Emus now travel to Novi Sad, Serbia, for the start of the FIBA World Championships for Under-19 Men on Thursday.
