Cortez Groves and Shannon Seebohm will be the star attractions at Broadmeadows Basketball Stadium next week when the Crazy John’s South Dragons head way out west for their Back to the ‘Burbs campaign.

Groves and Seebohm, each due to arrive in Melbourne by the weekend, will appear on court with the club for the first time on Monday afternoon – and you’re invited!

The club’s open training session kicks off at 3pm at Broadmeadows Stadium, and will be followed by a junior skills clinic and player signing session for all fans of the game.

The team will arrive at Broadmeadows for a full training session at 3pm ahead of the on-court hit-out.

Groves, the 196cm recruit from the Wollongong Hawks, joins his new team after spending time in his home state of Missouri, in the USA.

The 29-year-old import will bring a wealth of experience to the club when he arrives in Melbourne on Saturday, having played with teams throughout his home nation, France and Argentina across his career.

In 2006 Groves was named to the NBL World All-Star and All-NBL first teams and was a contender in the NBL All-Star dunking competition.

Last season he averaged 22 points, four rebounds and five assists with the Hawks, proving a key contributor to the team.

Seebohm arrives in Melbourne fresh from the FIBA World Championships for Under-19 Men in Novi Sad, Serbia, where the Australians finished fifth after a devastating one-point loss to Brazil in a do-or-die quarter final.

The 19-year-old AIS graduate joins the Crazy John’s South Dragons for his debut season in the NBL.
