The new-look team will hit the court for its first taste of NBL action on Thursday, August 16 when all players suit up to take on league newcomers the Gold Coast Blaze at Knox Stadium.

The Blaze clash will see the club take on a host of big name stars, including ex-Razorbacks Scott McGregor and James Harvey, and former Slingers big-man Ben Melmeth.

Following the team’s first pre-season hit-out at Knox Stadium, all players will venture west to tackle the Perth Wildcats in a three-game road trip before returning to Melbourne to face the New Zealand Breakers.

Shane Heal, Joe Ingles and all the stars of the Crazy John’s South Dragons’ second NBL campaign will do battle with the Breakers on Wednesday, September 5 at Geelong Arena and Thursday, September 6 at Kilsyth Stadium.

But the showdown all hoops fans are hanging out for is set for Wednesday, September 12, when the club plays host to cross-town rivals the Melbourne Tigers at Dandenong Stadium. Pride is on the line whenever these teams meet and September 12 will be no exception - be there to cheer your favourite stars to victory over the tameless Tigers!

The new season promises even more of the excitement and non-stop entertainment basketball fans have come to expect from the Crazy John’s South Dragons, and there’s no better way to get a head start on the action than to join in the club’s pre-season campaign.

Tickets to all four of the team’s home games will go on sale soon via the venues – don’t miss your chance to catch all the stars of the game in action in your own backyard ahead of the team’s second NBL season!

With games scheduled at local stadiums right across the state, the Crazy John’s South Dragons are taking their new-season NBL charge to the people. In the next six weeks the club will strut its stuff at Knox, Geelong, Kilsyth and Dandenong, taking big-league ball back to where it all began.

In taking the team to stadiums across Melbourne, the club is continuing to service its commitment to local basketball associations, established via the ‘Back to the ‘Burbs’ community program and citywide membership drives.
