The Detroit Pistons have survived a tight, low-scoring battle with the Indiana Pacers to improve their NBA-leading record to 55-13 with a fourth straight win.

Ben Wallace, the reigning defensive player of the year, blocked Pacers rookie Danny Granger’s three-point attempt at the death to help his team cling to a 75-72 win.

Indiana were behind by 13 points at one stage in the final period, but when All-Star Jermaine O'Neal and Jamaal Tinsley both made a pair free throws, the margin was cut to 2 (72-74).

Amazingly, neither side scored a field goal in the last four minutes of the match.

Both teams went without a basket over the final four minutes.

Richard Hamilton scored 15 points for the Pistons, while Tayshaun Prince and Antonio McDyess scored 11 points apiece.

Volatile Detroit big-man Rasheed Wallace added 10 and three blocks for Detroit, which shot 38 percent (31-of-80) from the field.

David Harrison scored 14 points and Stephen Jackson added 13 for the Pacers, who shot 41 percent (30-of-72) and now slip 20.5 games behind the Pistons in the Central Division.

The other winners in the NBA on Friday (US) were; Toronto, Orlando, Memphis, Miami, Cleveland, Chicago, Denver, San Antonio and the Lakers.
