The Crazy John’s South Dragons took their 2007/08 NBL campaign to the east yesterday, hitting up Waverley Stadium for round three of this season’s ‘Back to the ‘Burbs’ initiative.

Just under one hundred enthusiastic fans turned out to see the stars of the team put through their paces, just one week out from the club’s first pre-season game against the Gold Coast Blaze on Thursday, August 16.

Newly-arrived import Nick Horvath was the star of the show at Waverley Stadium, on court for his first public hit-out since touching down in Melbourne last Friday.

The 208cm giant and new-season number 44 joined teammates for a two-hour session at the local court under the watchful eyes of the Waverley faithful.

All players will again hit the road next Friday, August 17 when the ‘Back to the ‘Burbs’ community program heads to Kilsyth.

With the full squad now in training for the club’s second NBL season, all attention is now focused on September 22.

The Crazy John’s South Dragons will gear up for their season opener against West Sydney with their first pre-season game at Knox Stadium next Thursday, August 16.

Pre-season showdowns against New Zealand and Melbourne will follow the Blaze clash in early September – get in early to secure your seat!

The Boomers face a huge challenge in downing the Tall Blacks for direct qualification to Beijing, and will need a huge home crowd to cheer them all the way to victory.
