PATRICK MILLS of the Australian Institute of Sport has been named the winner of the 2007 SEABL East Men's Australian Youth Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Finishing the season as the fourth best in scoring averaging 23.0 per game and finishing second in assists (5.42apg), Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder Patrick Mills deserves his second successive recognition as U/21 Australian Youth Player of the Year. Mills had a very busy year with a trip to the U/19 World Championships in Serbia, and therefore had many camps with the Australian Emus, as well as attending various training sessions with the Australian Boomers' senior team.

Mills recorded double digit points in all but one game this year with a season high 41pts in Round 13 against Frankston. Patrick also produced a season-best 11 assists in two games this season.

Mills is currently overseas with the Australian Boomers hoping to claim a spot on the team for the
upcoming Oceania series versus New Zealand. Once national commitments are complete, Patrick will be heading to St Mary's University in California, USA, to commence a college career and hopefully a move into the NBA.

SEABL SOUTH MEN'S AUSTRALIAN YOUTH PLAYER OF THE YEAR

SEAN CARROLL received 32 of a possible 36 points, including eight first place votes from a panel of coaches and captains from all SEABL South teams and was by far the standout youth player in the league. Sean, whose father Wayne was an Australian Boomer at two World Championships and two Olympic Games, is the third Knox Raiders player to win the award.

Given the responsibility of starting every game by coach Damian Cotter, Sean did not let his coach down and had a standout season, his fifth in the SEABL. Twenty-year old Sean finished the season with averages of 9pts, 3.5rebs, 3.5ass and 1.4stls. His best game came in Round 10 at Hobart, with 23pts@53%, 2rebs, 4ass, 3blks and 5stls.

Sean finished the season ranked fifth in assists and seventh in the prestigious Golden Hands Award, and is destined to have a big future in the SEABL.

SEABL WOMEN'S AUSTRALIAN YOUTH PLAYER OF THE YEAR

SARAH PARSONS wins the SEABL Women's Australian U/21 Youth Player of the Year Award in her fourth season in the SEABL. Sarah has been a valuable contributor for the Lady Cobras this year and finished the season averaging 12pts, 8rebs, 3ass and 3stls.

Parsons, a graduate of the successful Kilsyth junior program scored 20+ pts on two occasions with her best game versus Southern Districts in Round 4 with 24pts, 10rebs, 5ass and 5stls. Sarah received at least one vote from every coach, finishing with 29 votes, four ahead of Lady Spartans' Holly Smith.
