Holmes, who stood on the gold medal podium representing the Australian Boomers following Friday’s Commonwealth Games win over New Zealand, has played the last five seasons with the Adelaide 36ers.

Holmes averaged 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists in 32 games last season.

After stints with South East Melbourne Magic, Victoria Titans and Sydney Kings, Frank Drmic played in Europe for a couple of seasons and has been living in Queensland since mid last year.

In his final year with the Sydney Kings (2002), Drmic averaged 18 points and eight rebounds.

Drmic, 28, had significant interest from several NBL clubs, ultimately choosing to return to Melbourne as an ideal environment to live with his family.

“There’s a great feel about this club,” said Drmic today. “I couldn’t think of a better situation to return to the NBL through.”

Drmic is currently playing in Queensland under coach Bruce Palmer.

Drmic and Holmes join recently signed veteran Matt Shanahan and rookie Joe Ingles and the first four players to represent the South Dragons.
