Three weeks out from the start to the Crazy John’s South Dragons’ second season, the club is painting the town red and black to promote its bid for the 2007/08 NBL title.

Signage is now up right across the streets of Melbourne to encourage all fans to get on board the club’s new-season cause – look out for the Crazy John’s South Dragons on a street near you!

While the club hits billboards and bus stops all over town, the players themselves are now preparing for tonight’s clash with the Perth Wildcats in Geraldton, the second showdown of their eight-game pre-season campaign.

The Wildcats proved one of the team’s toughest opponents last season, downing the club on three separate occasions by a combined total of just 10 points.

But with star recruits Cortez Groves and Nick Horvath all set for their first hit-out with their new team, it’s a new-look line-up that takes to the court for tonight’s clash.

After sitting out the first practice game against the Gold Coast Blaze earlier this month, Groves and Horvath will tonight join teammates for game one of the blockbuster series against the western powerhouse.

Perth, too, has a host of new faces in its ranks, most notably Rashad Phillips, a super-quick recruit with huge scoring potential who sits on the perimeter of NBA selection.

Alex Loughton enters the Wildcats’ fray as a replacement for NBL veteran Tony Ronaldson and, like Horvath, has the capacity to be a major inside force, setting up what promises to be an entertaining showdown at both ends of the court.
