In the deciding game of the pre-season series the home side raced out to an early lead and never looked back, outscoring the Crazy John’s South Dragons in every quarter to set up a 125-98 win.

Imports Cortez Groves (27 points, four rebounds, four assists) and Nick Horvath (18 points, eight boards) again led the visitors’ charge, but it was Wildcats duo Alex Loughton and Shawn Redhage who stole the show with 29 points each.

A slow start by the Crazy John’s South Dragons saw the home side out to a 67-45 lead by the main break and with all the answers under the rim.

Horvath and Matt Burston (14 points, seven boards) shouldered the majority of the visitors’ rebound count, but faced tough competition from Loughton with 13 boards of his own.

Accuracy from the field troubled the Crazy John’s South Dragons in the first half, with just 32.4 per cent of all attempts finding the net.

That rate was lifted after the major break but the hefty deficit proved too great to overcome; the Wildcats went on to claim the three-game series by 27 points.

The Crazy John’s South Dragons will return to training at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre tomorrow ahead of this week’s double-header against the New Zealand Breakers.
