South Dragons basketball development officer Michele Timms believes the Dragons have chosen wisely in the clubs latest signings - Matt Shanahan, Frank Drmic and Jacob Holmes.

Timms' WNBA jersey was retired the same year Frank Drmic averaged 18 points with the Sydney Kings before leaving to play in Europe.

“Frank’s a good rebounder for his size and from what I can remember can shoot the rock very well,” said Timms today.

“He’s capable of starting for any team and I’m excited to see how he’s developed from his last period in the league.”

A commentator at the recent 2006 Commonwealth games, Timms saw new recruit Jacob Holmes first hand, and believes he'll become a contributor for the Boomers in years to come.

“The fact that we’ve actively recruited Jacob, shows that we know what he’s capable of, and what he can bring to the franchise.”

Veteran Matt Shanahan was signed last week, a player Timms regards highly.

“When I was short listed for a coaching role, Matt was one of the players I saw as a ‘must get’,” said Timms.

“He’s got a brilliant basketball brain and has a great nous for communicating with the younger kids on the squad.”
