How're you feeling?

I’m glad to be back in the NBL. It’s still nearly six months until the season starts, so it’s a bit of a wait. (Signing with the Dragons) was a tough decision to make, I had great offers from both the Perth Wildcats and the Sydney Kings but the opportunity to return to Melbourne was too good in the end.

What have you done over the last couple of years?

I haven’t played NBL for four years. I spent three years in Europe, the last two playing in Division One Germany. Following that I had a year off, my wife had a child and although I’ve had offers from other teams I chose to focus on my family. I’m looking forward to asserting myself in the NBL.

You come back to the sport at such an exciting time in Australia..

For sure, once the Singapore franchise gets up and running I think it’ll be a great thing for the NBL and for Asian basketball as well. It’s definitely a step forward for the sport and hopefully we can build on that, and in the next few years we can look to get a few more international teams involved in the NBL.

The Dragons have generated a great amount of media interest and there’s a real buzz about the sport here in Melbourne, I can't wait to start playing.

And you're playing in Queensland at the moment?

We’ve got a stacked QBL team. Ben Thompson who’s a league veteran, Greg Vanderjagt from the Townsville Crocodiles, and Blair Smith who used to play NbL is also on the list so we’ve got a great bunch of guys. Bruce Plamer (Drmic's QBL coach) is a good guy and I’m looking forward to playing for him. It’ll be a good warm-up for the NBL, that’s for sure.
