Weather permitting; the Dragons will take on the Melbourne Tigers in the league’s only open-air clash on Boxing Day at Vodafone Arena.

The Dragons will also meet last season’s champions in their second home game, Sunday October 22 at Vodafone Arena.

“It’ll be great for fans of Victorian basketball to see a Dragons-Tigers derby early in the season,” Dragons chairman Mark Cowan said today.

“To secure a home clash against the Tigers on Boxing Day is a major coup for this franchise and the prospect of a sold out Vodafone Arena, similar to the crowds we witnessed at the Commonwealth games is exciting.”

The New Zealand Breakers will be the first team to play Australia’s newest franchise, with an away clash on Tuesday September 26.

Victorian fans will have to wait until Saturday the 14th of October for the Dragons first home clash, against the Wollongong Hawks.

As well as twelve home games at Vodafone, the Dragons have four games set aside for regional locations, with venues to be confirmed in the coming months.

MEANWHILE South Dragons coach Mark Price landed in Melbourne on Tuesday, to continue his role in developing Victoria's newest NBL franchise.

As part of a week-long visit, Price will meet with assistant coaches Scott Ninnis and Adrian Newall to discuss the team's roster, pre-season timings and training facilities.
