Quick, who averaged 5.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists in his debut season for the Townsville Crocodiles, is expected to play a back-up role to Captain Shane Heal in the point guard position.

Speaking with the Townsville Bulletins Antony Stewart, Cowan says Quick could also be a chance to share the ball carrying duties with Heal in a dual on court role.

"Without wanting to speak on behalf of (South coach) Mark Price, who has a great feel for the game . . . it wouldn't be a surprise if they shared the court at times during the season," Cowan explained to Stewart.

"He's a good kid and we are confident of the role he will play as a genuine point guard.”

Currently in the United States on his honeymoon, Quick is nearing full recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament injury last season.

"He's done everything right, so we're happy with that," Cowan said of Quick's injury. "He's put the injury behind him, he's married and ready for a fresh start."
