San Antonio's bench players have helped the Spurs to an 89-87 victory over the Houston Rockets, while stars Tim Duncan and Tony Parker rested for the playoffs.

Brent Barry and Michael Finley combined for almost half of the Spurs' points to help San Antonio to its fifth win from its last six games of the regular season.

The Spurs finish the regular season with a 63-19 record and will face the Sacramento Kings in the first round of the playoffs, while the Rockets 34-48 will begin rebuilding for next season.

"We got to play a lot of guys, and I thought a lot of people played real well at both ends of the court," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich told NBA.com.

"It was a good way to finish and the No. 1 priority, nobody got hurt."

Barry finished the night with a game-high 19 points, while Finley added 17 and veteran Nick Van Exel had 10 also off the bench. Emanuel Ginobili was the only starting player to reach double figures, shooting 11.

Much of Houston's work was also done off the bench with Stromile Swift also shooting 18, Luther Head contributing 17 and Chuck Hayes added 14.

The Spurs led 43-36 at half-time, but allowed Houston to force its way back in to the contest to trail by two points with 18 seconds remaining.

Rafer Alston could have forced overtime, but missed two shots from the foul line.
