Of all teams, the Pacers hold the worst record historically against the Seahawks, having never claimed a win against the Warrnambool side in 12 attempts. That might well have been about to change this weekend, given the solid form Latrobe have displayed, until things went terribly awry after last weekends game against Sandringham in Moe.

The Pacers trio of Norton, Masunda and Hooks were involved in a car crash that has robbed the club of Hooks for up to four games, and likely Norton for the remainder of the season. It is a crippling blow to a side that has been sharing its scoring load widely and with this trio contributing 42 points per game between them. The Seahawks won't want a win under these circumstances, but it appears the likely outcome.

These two are at the top end of the chasing pack right now and with more than one third of a 22 game season gone both need to make a move now if they are to challenge the leaders. This is potentially one of the highest scoring games of the year with both sides containing explosive offensive players, particularly from the back-court.

Where Melbourne probably hold an advantage is in the paint. While young, the continued development of both Brigitte Ardossi and Laura Thomas has been tremendous and they are Melbourne's leading scorers and rebounders at this point in the season. Renay Bresnan, for all her height, does not appear in the rebounding leaders for Waverley yet she and Norlena Brien will have plenty to do to quell Melbourne's exciting young pairing.
