Warragul (6-1) vs Horsham (3-2)

We get a few guarantees every Big V Division 2 season. One of them is that the Warragul and Horsham rivalry gets even bigger and better than it was the year before. We are pretty confident in saying tat 2006 will be no exception.

The home side is in rare form having reeled off 4 straight wins. The dominance provided by their massive front line is proving the difference in most games. Of course, here they have to contend with Horsham's fab four. It seems every year Horsham are able to field a side that has four stand-out players - this year that belongs to New, Brack, Dorward and now Lewis. New's form alone will be difficult to contend with, never mind if the other three decide to fire.

Western Port (4-3) VS LTU (3-4)
Saturday 7:30pm at Western Port
These two are on opposite runs - the Steelers with three successive wins and LTU with three losses. The latter need to stop the rot, with a series of close games going against them.

Melton (3-3) vs Mornington (1-5)
Saturday 8:00pm at Melton
So much of Mornington's form this season has centred around the availability and form of Dan Faber. With Melton unconvincing at the moment, the Breakers could take this - but Faber would probably be needed, and in his best touch.

Craigieburn (2-3) vs McKinnon (4-2)
Saturday 8:15pm at Craigieburn
McKinnon have retained second spot on the Big V ladder despite losing their last two games. Another loss though could easily see them tumble out of the five - Craigieburn are much improved, and could easily provide that.

Mornington (1-5) vs Horsham (3-2)
Sunday 12:00pm at Mornington
The Breakers come home for this early afternoon game and it will not be easy. Horsham are more than used to the road travel and look to have a mile too much muscle and firepower for the home side here.

Keysborough (0-7) vs Maccabi (4-2)
Sunday 1;00pm at Keysborough
The Cougars are not riding well in their inaugural season while Maccabi, despite a number of defections over the summer, are surprising many. Look for them to continue the home sides woes.

Monash University (5-3) vs McKinnon (4-2)
Sunday 2:00pm at Monash University
Monash slumped to fourth last weekend with a shock loss to Western Port, and the Cougars might be made to pay. This is a huge match-up, with all sorts of ramifications for winners and losers.

Division Two Women

Game of the Week
Craigieburn (4-2) vs Latrobe City (4-3)
Saturday 6.15pm at Craigieburn
Once again we get an opportunity to see just what the improvement in both these sides has been. Both have had a great recruiting season, with the Eagles picking up Tracey Tuesley (nee Allan) and Latrobe City picking up Carmen Dean, amongst other. Both have made a bright start to the year, and both are a serious threat to the five.

This largely comes down to a battle of the bigs. At full strength, with Dean, Carroll and Sallai in the line-up, the Energy have rebounding muscle to match anyone in the league. Craigieburn come very close to that as well with Tuesley, Davies, Curran and Davenport. The key will likely be the key here - a single putback might well decide this.

Melton (1-6) vs Mornington (1-5)
Saturday 6:00pm at Melton
Mornington broke through for their first win of 2006 last weekend and the Thoroughbreds will not want them repeating the dose. Both sides desperate for results in what is looking like a long season.

Mildura (6-1) vs Southern Peninsula (6-1)
Saturday 6:00pm at Mildura
Once again the Sunbeams have been packing in huge crowds for their home games and the Sharks girls will need to both cope with that and Mildura's outstanding form if they are to get what would be a significant upset win on the road.

Hawthorn (5-1) vs Monash University (6-0)
Saturday 7:30pm at Xavier
A poll on bigv.com.au this week suggested that Monash University was most likely of the current undefeated teams to drop a game in the near future - this could well be it. Hawthorn in great form but this is a stern test.

Monash University (6-0) vs Keilor (1-5)
Sunday 12:00pm at Monash
If the students get through Saturday night ok then they should have little trouble accounting for Keilor here - the Thunder still have just a single win to their name.

Altona (2-5) vs Ringwood (3-4)
Sunday 1:00pm at Altona
We like this match up lots, and think Altona are a real chance of springing an upset. The Gators really took it last weekend to Mildura and have shown they can get a bunch of wins if they can get on a roll.

Mornington (1-5) vs Sherbrooke (0-6)
Sunday 2:00pm at Mornington
The Suns outscore Mornington by about eight points per game and have shown, despite some heavy losses, that they have a lot of contributors in a pretty even squad. They have every chance of breaking through for their first win of 2005 here.
