The Cleveland Cavaliers have advanced through to the Eastern Conference semi-finals after wrapping up their first-round series against the Washington Wizards, while the Spurs have also progressed.

The Cavs took the sixth game of the series in overtime, running out 114-113 winners to wrap up the series at four games to two.

In their first playoff series win since 1993, the Cavs were inspired by LeBron James, whose 32 points, seven rebounds and seven assists proved the difference in what was a tight encounter.

It was Damon Jones who sealed the deal for the Cavs, hitting a jump shot with 4.8 seconds remaining in overtime, having been brought into the action with just 14 seconds left.

Other standout performances for the Cavs included 28 points to Donyell Marshall, 21 points to Flip Murray and 10 rebounds to Anderson Varejo.

For Washington, Antonio Daniels scored 22 points, while Caron Butler hauled in a career-best 20 rebounds.

In Sacramento, the NBA champion Spurs won through to the Western Conference semi finals after winning game six against the Sacramento Kings.

The Spurs, who rolled the Detroit Pistons in last year's championship deciding series, were far too strong for the Kings with a 105-83 rout as they advanced the playoffs for the 10th time in the last 11 seasons.

Tony Parker racked up 31 points for the Spurs, who were also aided by solid games from Bruce Bowen (16 points) and centre Tim Duncan (15).

Mike Bibby scored 19 points and Bonzi Wells added 17 with 11 rebounds for Sacramento, which coughed the ball up 20 times in what was a must-win game.

The Kings' cause wasn't helped by a sprained ankle to Ron Artest, who managed only 2-of-11 from the field.

The Spurs broke the contest wide open in the third quarter, when they went on a 14-1run to capture a 59-39 lead, with Parker knocking in 14 points for the stanza.
