343-game NBL veteran Matt Shanahan is working hard in the NBL off-season with a busy schedule including daily shooting sessions, strength and conditioning work and training commitments with his SEABL club Kilsyth Cobras.

Shanahan, who shoots for an hour each day with Australian Boomer Luke Kendall, played twice over the weekend in consecutive losses for the Cobras.

“Regardless of where I’ve played throughout my career, I’ve always returned to Melbourne in the off-season,” said Shanahan.

“At this stage of the program I’m doing a lot of work in the weight room, to prepare myself for the Dragons NBL build-up.”

Shanahan had 27 points, six rebounds and five assists in Fridays loss to the Supercats, and 16 points, six rebounds and two steals in Saturdays loss to the Miners. >> check Shanahan's SEABL boxscores here

OTHER South Dragons who played on the weekend include first signing Joe Ingles, who had four points and two rebounds on Sunday as the AIS went down to the Bendigo Braves in round eight of the SEABL. >> check Joe's boxscore here
