Dallas has rebounded from its 85-87 game one loss to the San Antonio Spurs by thrashing the reigning NBA champions on their home court in the second clash of the best-of-seven series.

The Mavericks altered their starting line-up ahead of the match, tied the Western Conference semi finals at 1-1 with a 113-91 rout.

Josh Howard scored 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while All-Star Dirk Nowitzki added 21 and nine for the fourth-seeded Mavericks.

Dallas coach Avery Johnson - a former San Antonio point guard - inserted Devin Harris into his starting five in place of Adrian Griffin, and the move paid off as Harris racked up 20 points and helped contain Spurs star Tony Parker (15 points on 6-of-14 shooting).

Jerry Stackhouse played a major role in the result as well, coming off the bench to add 19 points as the series now shifts to Dallas for games three and four.

Tim Duncan had 28 points and nine rebounds for San Antonio, which shot 45.5 percent (30-of-66) and committed 14 turnovers, while Manu Ginobili added 13.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons raced to a 2-0 series lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers with a 97-91 victory in the Eastern Conference semi finals.

Rasheed Wallace scored 29 points (10-of-17), including 5-of-8 from the arc. He also added nine rebounds and two blocks in his best game of the 2006 postseason.

Tayshaun Prince registered 20 points, Richard Hamilton added 17 and Chauncey Billups (15) was also effective for the Pistons.

Cavs star Le Bron James had 30 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists, but had little support from his teammates as Cleveland's hole got deeper.
