Court Queen: Kristen Nicolaidis
16/05/2006
20 year old Blackburn Vikings player Kristen Nicolaidis has been named the Big V Queen of the Court for Week 6 of Big V Competition.

Nicolaidis is in her fifth season of competition with the Vikings, and has played for the Vikings Big V program for the last three seasons.

Nicolaidis has participated in basketball at all stages from school, domestic, representative, MMBL and now at the elite Big V

The consummate 'Club Person', Nicolaidis is always positive and willing to assist at every level from playing to coaching to fundraising.

Her enthusiasm and positive nature is contagious and she brings this attitude to every practice session and game.

Her ability to play through injuries and her work ethic outside organised practice sessions is an inspiration to all budding players.

After coaching domestically for a number of years Nicolaidis was assistant coach to the Blackburn Vikings Under 18 girls in the VJBL last season and this year has stepped up to take the head coaching position.

This coaching job is made all the more difficult as she has three of her Big V team-mates under her charge on a Friday night.

Nicolaidis has handled this in her normal no fuss style and after a very successful VJBL grading season she has coached the girls to a win in A Grade at the prestigious Norwwod Easter Classic.

All of that is enough for us to recognise Nicolaidis as our Queen of the Court for Week 6 of Big V Competition. She will be presented with a $100.00 voucher at an upcoming Big V game.

The Queen of the Court promotion is a joint promotion between the Big V and Basketball Victoria recognising the outstanding contribution women and girls make to the health of basketball in Victoria. The promotion is supported by Sport and Recreation Victoria.

Basketball Victoria is in the second year of a three year SRV funded program aimed at enhancing the participation of females in the sport - Big V is proud to be supporting that.
