The Detroit Pistons have forced their Eastern Conference semi final series against the Cleveland Cavaliers into a seventh and deciding game after posting an 84-82 win in game six.

Having lost the previous three games to register its first triple loss of the season, the Pistons dug deep to record what at times looked like an unlikely victory.

Rasheed Wallace led the way for the Pistons scoring 24 points for the match - 7 points more than in his last two games combined.

Wallace was ably assisted by Richard Hamilton who netted 17 points and Chauncey Billups who registered 15.

For the Cavs, it was a case of what might have been, as they failed to grab one of three important rebounds inside the final minute of play.

LeBron James was his usual self for the home team clocking up 32 points including 24 in the second half, while Zyndrunas Ilgauskas was next best with 16.

Game seven now heads to Detroit and will be played on Monday afternoon (AEST).
