Averaging 25.0 points, 18 rebounds and 6.5 assists for the weekend, Ballarat “Telstra CountryWide/Telstra Shop” Miners Ricky Daniels deserves his first Player of the Week recognition this season. Ricky helped his team to a 2-0 weekend and increases their win streak to nine games.

Ricky started the weekend with a consistent effort, recording 23pts@91%, 11rebs, 5ass and 1blk against Frankston. He was solid at the defensive end also, holding Blues David Gruber to only 18pts. The following day at Nunawading, Daniels showcased his 1999/2000 MVP form with 27pts@71%, 25rebs, 8ass and 2blks, helping the Miners to a 105-96 victory.

East Men Player of the Week

TYSON DEMOS – Australian Institute of Sport

Having averaged 8.8pts and 3.8rebs prior to this weekend’s game with Albury/Wodonga, Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder Tyson Demos earns Player of the Week recognition for his outstanding performance in the AIS 111-87 victory against the Bandits. Tyson, a 183cm guard from Illawarra recorded 24pts@61%, 6rebs, 2ass and 1stl, in only 27mins of court time.

Other notable performances were:

Matt Shanahan helped the Kilsyth Cobras to a 2-0 weekend with a victory over first placed Bendigo. Matt averaged 18pts, 8.5rebs and 5ass for the weekend but was instrumental in the Cobras victory against Bendigo with 24pts, 8rebs and 7ass.

Albury/Wodonga Bandits Jeff Dowdell recorded 34pts@45%, 12rebs, 3ass and 3stls in his return game at the AIS Training Hall.

Geelong Supercats import Shawn Meyers continues to impress, recording 23pts@60%, 16rebs, 2ass, 3blks and 3stls in his teams 117-93 victory at Mildura.
