Monash University (7-4) vs Horsham (5-4)
Sunday 2:00pm at Monash University
The Hornets are in Melbourne for two University match-ups and while both are attractive, this one has more spice, given that Horsham has already defeated Monash University once this season at home. Another win here would probably propel the Hornet's above the students but also provide they key head to head advantage so important come finals time.

Monash themselves need to respond to last weekend's lost to LTU. If pre-season rumours were correct, then no team in the competition should have been able to match Monash this year. They've proved vulnerable now a number of times, and while appearing a certain finalists, have not dominated as expected. A win here will not be good enough for them, they need to beat the Hornets by 8+, and themselves regain head to head advantage.

Mornington (4-6) vs McKinnon (6-5)
Saturday 5:30pm at Mornington
The Cougars inconsistent form gives the Breakers a real chance here - with Mornington's form far from poor. McKinnon just cannot afford another slip, or they risk falling well off the pace.

Western Port (4-6) vs Craigieburn (4-4)
Saturday 7:00pm at Western Port
A big night of basketball to Melbourne's south-east, and this game is really big for a couple of teams that have only managed four wins so far this season - Craigieburn's form better have shocked Horsham last weekend.

Warragul (8-3) vs Melton (4-5)
Saturday 8:00pm at Drouin
The Warriors should win this, with the Thoroughbreds struggling to find their best form at the moment. Warragul though can often surprise in disappointing ways so Melton won't be going there with a negative mindset.

LTU (6-4) vs Horsham (5-4)
Saturday 8:00pm at Darebin
Our other candidate for game of the week, with LTU in stunning form and doing lots of damage. Things coming together for the Eagles - the Hornets will need to be at their best.

Keysborough (0-11) vs LTU (6-4)
Sunday 1:00pm at Keysborough
Keysborough's season hit a new low last weekend, with a 34 point drubbing at the hands of Mornington. No doubt they'll be better here, but its hard to see the Cougars getting over the Eagles.

Maccabi (7-3) vs Craigieburn (4-4)
Sunday 2:00pm at Waverley
Maccabi for us are the most surprising team of the competition this season, led by Tauber-Lewis and Smolboard, both of whom are delivering big numbers. They should consolidate their top two ranking here.

Division Two Women

Game of the Week
Monash University (9-1) vs Mildura (10-1)
Saturday 6:00pm at Mildura
Mildura are on the road for their third Melbourne trip of 2006, and this game in particular may well be the biggest game of the year for Sunbeams. Monash, sitting first and without a commitment Saturday night will take a lot of beating in their home court.

The Sunbeams, while having lost some players to state commitments, have regained the formidable presence of Vanessa Power. In her first game back last week she showed her shooting is still on song, and that she still has plenty of pride in the Sunbeams uniform. She gives them a different look offensively, and that will change the teams have to deal with them. Mildura are deep, and they'll need all that depth to get a win here.

Sherbrooke (0-10) vs Southern Peninsula (7-3)
Saturday 5:30pm at Monbulk
The Suns look to have little chance here, especially after losing heavily twice last weekend to teams outside the five. SP know one of the top teams will slip a little this weekend, and will want to stay in touch.

Melton (1-9) vs Keilor (2-7)
Saturday 6:00pm at Melton
A new local rivalry for this competition and a game that the Thunder, given their inconsistent year, could easily find themselves in some trouble in. Melton really need to grab a couple of wins soon.

Mornington (4-6) vs Mildura (10-1)
Saturday 7:30pm at Mornington
The Breakers have won plenty of admiration in recent weeks as they continue to grab wins - their chances here though appear slim and they'll be hoping the Sunbeams are focused on Sunday's big game.

Hawthorn (9-1) vs Latrobe City (6-4)
Saturday 7:30pm at Xavier
We like the Energy's chances here provided they can front with their full strength. They can probably match the Magic inside - but will need to also contain Matheson and Lowe who have been doing most of the damage for Hawthorn..

Ringwood (4-6) vs Craigieburn (6-3)
Sunday 12:15pm at Maroondah
The Eagles showed enormous character last week in fighting back against the Sunbeams at Mildura after an early blow-out. They should only need to maintain that form to take this win.

Altona (2-9) vs Sherbrooke (0-10)
Sunday 1:00pm at Sherbrooke
Their have only been a couple of bright spots for the Gators in the first half of the season, but they have a chance to start their second half in the right way.
