Bogut backs NBL
30/05/2006
Speaking at the official press launch for the Resi Mortgage Test Series to take place in Melbourne on the 19th of July, NBA superstar Andrew Bogut openly discussed the possibility of returning to the NBL.
“You never know,” said Bogut. “I definitely want to finish my career somewhere outside the NBA, which could mean Europe or Australia.
“It would be great to come back and have a player or coaching role back here (in Australia).”
Bogut, who’ll play in his first competitive match in Australia for almost four years in July, says he’d like to look at team ownership down the track.
“I’ve had offers to get involved with clubs but at the moment I haven’t got the time, so I don’t want to put myself in that situation… once I retire I’ll definitely be looking for those kind of things.”
South Dragons Basketball Development Manager Michele Timms believes Bogut’s goals are admirable.
“I think it’s absolutely fantastic,” said Timms. “For a guy so young to already be thinking of way to put back in to basketball in Australia is terrific.
“Any club to be associated with Andrew would count themselves very lucky.”
