The Pistons have kept their faint hopes of progressing to the NBA finals alive, with a 91-78 win over the Miami Heat to get a game back in their best-of-seven series.

Trailing one-game-to-three, Detroit threw everything at the Heat with Tayshaun Prince the go-to-man hitting a career-high 29 points, while Chauncey Billups was another solid contributor for Detroit finishing with 17 points and 10 assists.

Dwyane Wade was once again Miami's top scorer with 23 points, although he struggled from the floor connecting with only 11 shots from 20 attempts.

Shaquelle O'Neal was the second-top scorer for the Heat with 19 points, but his six rebounds was well-below the centre's career average and it helped Detroit get a number of second chances.

It's the third time Detroit has recovered from the brink of elimination, after coming back from two-games down to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in their previous series, but they'll have to do it the hard way, playing the remaining two games in Miami starting this Friday.
