Jessica Bibby – Kilsyth Cobras
Club Kilsyth Lady Cobras guard Jessica Bibby picks up her first Player of the Week award for Round 12. In somewhat of a change, finally someone else for Kilsyth other than Elizabeth Keane picks up the silverware. Kilsyth headed to the apple isle for the second time this season and were hoping if things went there way, they may move to top spot on the ladder by weekends end. Jessica made the weekend her own by averaging 30pts @ 60%, 5rbs, 3.5stls and 4.5 ass. She scored 29pts against the Tornadoes on Saturday night and then backed it up on Sunday in Ulverstone against the Thunder with 31pts. The two wins push Kilsyth to top of the table with an 11-3 record coming into their bye this weekend and a home date with the much improved Frankston in Round 14.

Other notable performances were:

* It was the Battle of the Opals in Bendigo on Saturday night with Kristi Harrower returning from France to face Hollie Grima and fellow Knox Raider Katrina Hibbert. Bendigo won the points and Kristi was on song with 27pts which included 6 of 9 from 3 point range. Hollie finished with 28pts,17rbs while Katrina had a quiet night by her standards ending with 11pts.

* Emma Randall of the Spectres worked hard against Ballarat to finish with 24pts, 17rebs, in an away win.

* Katrina Hibbert from Knox made up for a quiet night in Bendigo torching the Spectres on the road on Sunday with 30pts, 8rebs and 8 ass in a close 3 point win.

SEABL South Men Player of the Week

Bart Strzebonski – Mt Gambier Pioneers
Mt Gambier ”Carter Holt Harvey” Pioneers Bart Strzebonski enjoyed his best game for his new team this weekend against the visiting Canberra Gunners. Bart who transferred this season from Diamond Valley in the Big V has been solid for the Pioneers throughout the first 11 rounds but in Round 12 he showed us what he is capable of. He scored 34pts @53% , went 6 of 11 from 3 point range @55% , added 4 rebs and 4 ass to round out a wonderful performance that helped secure his team a much needed win and extend there mini winning streak to two games. The Pioneers will be looking forward to Bart continuing in the same vain for the rest of the season. If he does, Mt Gambier will be a hard team to cover offensively with three highly talented threats in Holmes, Jeffree and Strzebonski.

Anthony Petrie – Canberra Gunners
“Club Lime” Gunners Fwd/Ctr Anthony Petrie wins his second player of the week award in Round 12. Anthony helped his team to a 2-1 record this weekend in what must be one of the hardest road trips in the SEABL. He first stop was a date with Pioneers all star center Jamie Holmes where he posted consistent if not spectacular numbers. In what was some what of an upset the home side prevailed with Anthony contributing 20pts, 9rebs, 3 ass and 4 stls in a losing cause. Saturday night though it was Canberra’s turn to cause an upset themselves knocking off the top side in the east, the Geelong Supercats 100-86 in a boilover. In a dominant display Anthony led his team spectacularly with 28pts @52%, 23rebs, 2 blks and a stl against one of the favourites for the title. In his 3rd game of the weekend he produced 26pts @57%, 10rebs & 3ass in another win this time against the Spectres. For the weekend he averaged 24.6pts, 14rebs and 2.5ass in what just may have been a pivotal point in the Gunners season

Other notable performances were:

* David Gruber had 34 pts @52%, 14 rebs as the Blues had a win at home against the Bandits

* Mavericks Fwd Glen Barlow had a night of home cooking recording 28pts @56% in a narrow 7 point loss to the Cobras.

* Cobras import Brad Bridgewater put Mildura to the sword with a commanding 27pts, 15 reb effort on the road.

* Knox’s CJ Massingale won the battle of the import guards up in Bendigo compiling impressive numbers in an upset road win. CJ finished with 26pts and 14 rebs in the victory.
