In association with the Oasis Hobart Chargers and the North West Tasmania Thunder the Dragons will take on the 36ers at both the Aurora Stadium and the Davenport Stadium.

South Dragons Assistant Coach Adrian Newall says the road trip will be a key component to the Dragons first pre-season campaign.

“It’ll be a great indicator for where we’re at,” said Dragons Assistant Adrian Newall.

“Against quality opposition we’ll be able test the team structure and hopefully be able to give some of our younger guys a test in different positions.”

Sue Leedham of the Hobart Chargers, says her club is keen to forge a relationship with the Dragons.

“We’ve been pushing for NBL involvement and it’s fantastic to have the Dragons support our cause by coming down to play,” she added.

“It’ll be huge for basketball in our town to have Shane Heal and Mark Price representing the Dragons."

The Dragons, who’ve signed two Adelaide-born hoopers in AIS senior Joe Ingles and Boomers squad member Jacob Holmes, will face fierce opposition in an overhauled 36ers team, with veterans Lanard Copeland and Brett Wheeler signed in the off-season.

Tasmanian-born Mark Nash will receive plenty of hometown support when he hits the court for the 36ers, Leedham adding he still has plenty of fans on his home soil.
