To be played in Dandenong on the 12th of September and Shepparton on the 15th, both games are expected to draw sell-out crowds ahead of the Dragons NBL debut on the 14th of October against the Wollongong Hawks at Vodafone Arena.

The Dragons can expect fierce competition from the Big V All-Stars, with Big V CEO Matthew Cowling confident a number of the competition's star American imports will be available in the post-season to go head-to-head with their NBL counterparts.

"The Big V All-Star team that took part in the NBL Blitz last season was extremely competitive," said Big V CEO Matthew Cowling.

"To have our players take on the NBL's newest team is a great opportunity to showcase the talents of the Big V."

"This pre-season series symbolises the connection between the South Dragons and grass roots basketball," said Dragons chairman Mark Cowan.

"There's a whole host of local players that are borderline NBL and it's great for them to have a chance to play against us."

Both matches will be played in a traditional All-Star game format, with the Dandenong game to feature a half-time dunk competition involving all five Big V mens leagues.

"These games will be a great opportunity for Victorian basketball fans to see the South Dragons in action and meet the players," added Basketball Development Manager Michele Timms.

"For the Big V All-Stars, a lot of these guys dream to play top line basketball in this country and this is the perfect chance for them to put their best foot forward."

Dragons coach Mark Price says his team won't take the hit-out lightly.

The game in Shepparton is only ten days from our first NBL fixture," he said.

"We've got to be switched on for the start of the regular season and the Big V games will play a major part in that."
