Having been in the league for just three years, Jordan’s investment makes him the second largest individual owner behind Johnson, and will take up the role of managing member of basketball operations.

Johnson is elated with the new involvement stating that he is pleased to have someone of Jordan’s ilk alongside him at the Bobcats.

"I'm thrilled to have my friend Michael Jordan join me in my business and sports pursuits. He will provide invaluable input," he told BBC.

"I not only respect Michael for his basketball knowledge and expertise, but also for his business skills, particularly in branding and marketing."
