Dwyane Wade has put the Miami Heat within one win of the NBA title after shooting 43 points, including two free throws with less than two seconds left, to help his side to a 101-100 overtime victory over the Dallas Mavericks in game five of the NBA finals.

Wade, who also shot 42 points in game three, made a slow start to the match, but finished with 11 from 28 in the field, and also made 21 of 25 free throws, including two with just 1.9 seconds left to snatch the decisive series lead.

The 24-year-old also nailed a pull-up shot with just 2.8 seconds left in regular time to tie up the match at 93-93 and send it into overtime.

Dirk Nowitzki then gave the Mavericks the lead with less than ten seconds remaining in overtime after sinking a jumper over Shaquille O'Neal, but after a timeout Wade got past four defenders before drawing the foul from Nowitzki.

O'Neal and James Posey were the only other Heat players to finish with double figures, Shaq making 8 from 12 from the field on his way to 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Jason Terry top scored for the Mavericks with 35 points, while Josh Howard grabbed 25 points and 10 rebounds.
