Ringwood's seven footer Jason Eversteyn claims his first POTW award for 2006.

The Hawks got another win on the weekend, defeating Diamond Valley and keeping their slim finals chances alive.

Eversteyn was too much for DV's talls to handle - scoring 17 pts, grabbing 25 rebounds and making 10 blocked shots for a rare TD.

The 10 blocked shots enhanced his reputation as the league's leading shot blocker, and at 4.8 per game this year his numbers tower over the league's second best, Lester Strong, who has 2.8 pg.

At 15.5 rebounds per game, Eversteyn narrowly leads the league in that category with Marcus Timmons trailing.

Other players in contention this week were:

* Nathan Crosswell, who had 41 points and nine assists as Sandringham beat Melbourne in Double OT
* Marcus Timmons, with 29 pts and 18 rebounds in the same game
* Ash Cannan, who averaged 18.5 points and 21 rebounds acorss two games for Dandenong
* Lester Strong, who had 60 pts and 32 boards for the weekend along with six blocked shots
* Sam Burch, who chalked up a career high 40 points on 16 of 30 shooting for Warrnambool against Werribee on Saturday night

Champnioship Women player of the week: Sharon Grieve

Sharon Grieve celebrates 100 Big V Championship Games with a swag of points and the Player of the Week Award.

Grieve had a big weekend as her side beat both Bulleen and Cobug, netting 55 points, 13 rebounds, four blocked shots, three assists and three steals.

Against Bulleen, Grieve led all scorers with 24 points on outstanding 10 of 15 shooting. She made three of five from the arc, as the Falcons won 100-61.

Saunday was even better. Grieve score a round high 31 points; again hitting three treys as she went 11 of 20 from the field. She complimented that with 7 rebounds, three blocks, two assists and one steal.

There were some other great efforts across the league:

* Grieve's team mate Julie deGroot, who had a great double with 28 pts and 10 assists against Coburg following up 12 points against Bulleen
* Sam Tomlinson, who had 15 pts, 12 rebounds and seven blocked shots for the Bronco's against Geelong
* Caitlin Ryan, with 32 points, 15 rebounds and six steals for the weekend
* Carleigh Evans, averaging 15.5ppg and 10 rpg in two games
