Dwyane Wade again played the hero, piling on 36 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in front of an unfriendly Dallas crowd, as the Heat won their fourth game in a row to capture the series.

After almost single-handedly rescuing Miami from a 0-2 series start, Wade's spectacular performance during the finals earned him the series MVP award.

"It's one of the best feelings, next to my wife and my son, that I've ever had in my life," he said. "I'm going to live it up!"

Udonis Haslem supported Wade with 17 points and 10 boards, while Antoine Walker chipped in with 14 points as Miami shot at 45 percent from the field.

Dirk Nowitzki had a huge game for the Mavericks, finishing with 29 points and 15 rebounds in a desperate effort to force another game in the best-of-seven series, but it proved to be fruitless.

Shaquille O'Neal, who won his fourth championship ring, was lethal on defence, but managed just nine points in another quiet offensive game.

"The great [Miami coach] Pat Riley told me we were going to win today," O'Neal said.

"I didn't have the best game. But D-Wade's been doing it all year. He's the best player ever."

The home side got off to an impressive start as they forged a seven-point (30-23) lead heading into the first break, but it was to be short-lived.

Miami restriced them to just 18 points in the second term while adding 26 and taking a narrow 49-48 advantage to half-time.

Despite an unyielding effort from Nowitzki, Dallas was unable to regain the ascendancy in the third quarter as their deficit grew to three (68-71).

Wade made a pair of free-throws late in the final term to give the Heat a 95-90 lead, but Josh Howard did the same at the other end, before Wade was again at the charity stripe with 10 seconds to play.

But this time both shots missed their mark, eaving the hosts a glimmer of hope with a three-pointer needed to force the overtime.

Jason Terry put up the long range shot just before the buzzer as the hopeful crowd went silent, but it missed and Miami was crowned the champs.
