The Melbourne Tigers Sedale Threatt has claimed his first Player of the Week Award for 2006.

Threatt was pivotal for the Tigers as they went into the weekend without stud Daryl Corletto and emerged with a 1-1 record.

He had 66 points for the weekend, along with 15 assists, 13 rebounds and four steals.

The Tigers started the round with a big win over Eltham, Threatg contributing 35 points - including 16 of 19 from the charity stripe, to go with six rebounds, eight assists and two blocked shots.

On Sunday the Tigers were overwhelmed by DV, Threatt went 11 of 22 from the field for 31 points along with seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals.

Threatt has had a fine year since transferring from Latrobe City, averaging 7.13 assists per game in a league dominated by great point guards. He has also put away 20 ppg this season and gathered over 6 rebounds per game.

Others in contention this week were:

* Marcus Timmons - again brilliant with 50 points, 26 rebounds and 12 assists in two games
* Ash Cannan, again impressive in a low scoring game with 27 points, 17 rebounds and four steals against Werribee
* Bobby Cunningham, 17 points, 15 rebounds and 14 assists for his fourth TD of the year - this time against Latrobe City

Championship Women POTW: Mel Colcott

Dandenong's Mel Colcott claims her second POTW of the Week Award in just three weeks.

Colcott took 40 points from the weekend from two games, as the Rangers beat Bulleen and then crashed away against Sandringham.

She dominated Bulleen, coming away from that game with a round high 27 points, along with eight rebounds and two steals - and all of that in just under 24 minutes on court.

Against Dandenong, she was the only Rangers player to score in double figures as the Sabres shut everyone down - making 13 points and contibuting five rebounds as she played 31 minutes.

* Hume's Sharin Milner, who had 18 points and 10 assists in her teams loss to Waverley
* Melbourne's Laura Thomas, who had 17 points and 13 rebounds in her teams loss at Geelong
* Kylie Jordan of Sandringham, with 17 points, seven rebounds and 5 assists against Dandenong
