The Harvey Norman New Zealand Breakers squad headed back to school this week - Pomaria Road School in Henderson to be exact.

As part of the Breakers Young Hoops Program, which takes the team out to local schools for coaching and a lot of fun, the team played "Breaker Ball" against the Pomaria school team.

Faced with the Breakers height advantage, the Pomaria team used innovative tactics to get the upper hand - such as running between legs, having 8 players on the court, and having a teacher place Breakers players on detention.

New Breakers recruits Oscar Forman and Adam Darragh had their first taste of the Breakers community program, and loved it.

"It's awesome to get out there and have some fun with the kids, and they love their basketball!" said newly signed point guard Darragh. "I love the way the whole school packs in to the gym for the game, and they can sure make some noise."

Forman was a hit with the kids, as they were with him. "This is what it is all about, why we love to play the game. These kids are just having a ball, and it's great to be able to get out and enjoy it with them."

As part of the Young Hoops Program, each of the school children went home with a Breakers Skills Book, and some goodies from the ZM radio crew - plus a big smile!
