Boomers star Andrew Bogut has told AAP that the young Australian team must forget about their heartbreaking loss to Greece and remain focused on their next World Championship opponent, Lithuania.

The Boomers had been on the verge of what appeared a certain upset win over Greece on Tuesday before the European champions hit two three-pointers in the final 9.2 seconds to snatch a 72-69 victory at Hamamatsu Arena.

Bogut told AAP's James Dampney that the Australians, who fell to 1-2 for the tournament, must not dwell on what might have been.

"We played our heart out and the way we lost (against Greece) was terrible," Bogut said.

"We've got to forget about it, we've got a big game against Lithuania."

"If you watch most of our games, up until the end we put ourselves in positions to win and let it slip away."

"We need to work on handling the pressure and knowing who we want to give the ball to."

Two wins will be enough for some teams in the tournament to reach the knock-out stage, but Australia is in the most competitive group in Japan and needs to beat highly-rated Lithuania and Qatar to ensure its place in the next round.

Otherwise the Boomers could be relying on points difference to get through, if it defeats minnow Qatar.
