Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Bosh have all signed new contracts with their NBA teams before heading off to join Team USA's training camp in Las Vegas next week.

Wade, who was the NBA Finals MVP as the Heat won their first ever NBA crown last season, is reported to have followed the lead of international team-mate and good friend LeBron James in opting to sign a shorter three-year deal, rather than the maximum five-year $80 million deal the Miami Heat are thought to have offered him.

James signed a three-year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday.

By opting to take the shorter deal, Wade, who has been adamant about staying in Miami, could become a free agent following the 2009-10 season, allowing him the ability to sign a more lucrative deal.

Getting Wade, who was already under contract to make $3.84 million next season in the final year of his rookie contract from 2003, to agree to any sort of an extension was the top off-season priority for Heat coach and president Pat Riley.

Wade continued to elevate himself into one of the game's top players during the post-season, averaging 28.4 points on 49.7 percent shooting.

The 6ft 4in guard proved even better in the NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks by scoring 34.7 points and grabbing 7.8 rebounds as the Heat claimed their first championship.

The fifth overall pick in 2003, Wade averaged a career-best 27.2 points and 6.7 assists in 75 games during his third season. A two-time All-Star, he has scored 22.9 points and handed out 6.1 assists in 213 career regular-season games.

Anthony and Bosh have also gone for the shorter deals, having also been offered the maximum deals by their teams.

The 22-year-old Anthony is yet to make an All-Star team or win a play-off series, but has already emerged as a one of the top scorers in the NBA in his first three years with the Denver Nuggets.

"Carmelo is an outstanding young man, both on and off the basketball court,"

Nuggets owner Stan Kroenke said. "Our fans should know that we are committed to bringing a championship to Denver and we believe Carmelo is a key piece of that puzzle."

Anthony raised his scoring average nearly six points to 26.5 last season, good for eighth in the league.

Anthony had one year left on his rookie contract. A member of the 2006 All-NBA third team, Anthony has averaged 22.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in three seasons with the Nuggets, who drafted him third overall in 2003 after he led Syracuse to a national championship as a freshman.

Anthony has led the Nuggets to the post-season in each of the last three years, but the team has lost in the first round each time.

ESPN.com is reporting that Bosh has agreed a new deal with the Toronto Raptors, who are expected to hold a news conference later this week to announce the deal.

The All-Star forward, 22, averaged 22.5 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists last season, shooting 50.5% from the field and 81.6% from the foul line - each of those stats a career high.

The fourth overall pick in 2003, Bosh has averaged 16.8 points and 8.5 rebounds in 226 career games with the Raptors.
