The experience and leadership qualities Australian Opal Kristi Harrower has given back to the team have been instrumental for the team. However 302 SEABL game veteran Andrea Walsh has been the teams major performer, and will likely get the task of containing Lady Miners talented recruit Deanna Smith this week. The production Deanna can give her team will play a major role in the team's chances of securing the victory and moving back into the conference top four.

NW Tasmania "McDonalds" Thunder vs Launceston "Integrated Training" Tornadoes
Both teams are unable to make the finals, but that won't matter in this intensive clash between the Tasmania rivals. NW Tasmania coach John Damon set himself a goal of eight wins this year, the clubs second in the competition, and a victory this week against the Tornadoes will see him achieve his goal. Tornadoes will be without Jasmine Finnigan for the remainder of the season due to an achilles injury, which will be a concern for coach Malcolm Gardner. Her loss is disastrous, as she was a valuable contributor to the team.

Nunawading Spectres vs Club Kilsyth Lady Cobras
Both teams need a victory in this game, but unfortunately there can only be one winner. Kilsyth recorded a 73-63 victory in round four, but Nunawading have since added WNBL players Jenna O'Hea, Caitlin Cunningham and Emma Randall to their line-up, and O'Hea is one player Kilsyth will need to stop if they are to record the road win. Jenna's productivity has been instrumental to the Spectres recent surge up the ladder after a disappointing 1-4 season start.

Mt Gambier "Carter Holt Harvey" Pioneers vs "St Laurence" Geelong Supercats
Supercats' returned to the winner's circle last week after six consecutive losses, and Geelong Coach Mark Leader will be keen to keep the winning formula and head into the finals on a positive note. It is very unlikely that the Supercats won't make finals, but their final ladder position is yet to be determined. Supercats Nathan Herbert recorded 46pts, 8rebs and 6ass in the Supercats 126-114 victory in round six, but the Pioneers Jamie Holmes was also dominant in the game with 46pts and 14rebs. Both players will be keen for a repeat performance with both keen to guide their respective team to victory.

Canberra Gunners vs Albury/Wodonga "Bendigo Bank" Bandits
With the AIS team currently at the William Jones Cup in Taiwan, a victory this week to the Canberra Gunners will see them rocket from third position into first position on the ladder as a result of points percentage. Fresh after a confidence boosting 2-0 road trip in Melbourne last week, Hobart will look to consolidate their position in the four with a victory over state rivals NW Tasmania. Chargers recorded a 113-108 victory in round ten, with Banovic and George doing most of the damage. Banovic is in great form at present, averaging 40pts on the road trip to Melbourne, and keen to record a win over his former team.

Mildura "QantasLink" Mavericks vs Frankston "Cambur" Blues
A victory is vital for Frankston this week against Mildura, as they have dropped to fourth position after two successive losses. The Blues still have a chance of a top place finish in the East Men, but only if they record wins over the next couple of rounds. When the Blues big three (Gruber, Gilbert and Harms) are in form, Frankston are dangerous, but they have struggled in recent weeks, and coach Bill Runchey will be keen to have all three back in touch this week on the road in Mildura. .

After a disappointing 115-127 loss in round sixteen, Paul Tudorovic and his Miners team get a second chance at the Braves and recapturing top position in the south. Both teams have a fierce rivalry, and with home court advantage during finals on offer, the clash will be a brutal encounter. The battle in the back court between Braves Ben Harvey and Miners Braith Cox will have the referees on their toes as both plays a hard physical game. Harvey was disqualified after two unsportsmanlike fouls on Cox in the round sixteen clash.

A loss this week to local rivals Kilsyth, will put an end to the Spectres hopes of a finals berth, despite currently sitting in fifth position. SEABL Veteran David Biwer is a valuable member of the Spectres, and without his services, the Spectres have struggled. Coach Rohan Short will be hoping to have him back in uniform this week against the Cobras, after missing their 82-103 loss to Hobart last week. Kilsyth guard Matt Shanahan has been quiet in the past rounds, but will be eager for a solid performance against his junior club.
