The addition of Australian Opal Deanna Smith to the Lady Miners has been a great complement, and has been combining well with MVP candidate Karen Ashby at the offensive end. Ashby has been a dominate threat in the Lady Miners past two victories already this season, and averages 17pts, 12rebs and 5.5ass against Thunder in 2006. NW Tasmania import Tracy Gahan has been a consistent performer all season, and will need to be at her best defensively to counter Karen's production if the Thunder are to record the win.

Nunawading Spectres vs Bendigo "IGA" Lady Braves
Bendigo have recorded a successful 2-0 record against Nunawading already this season, and will be looking for the clean sweep to remain in contention for first position and home court advantage in the finals. Much of the Lady Braves success has been largely through the efforts of 20 year old Ashley Gilmore, as she is consistently producing quality numbers off the bench. Her efforts will need to be contained by the Spectres if they are to secure the win and remain in finals contention.

Club Kilsyth Lady Cobras vs Albury/Wodonga "Telstra CountryWide" Lady Bandits
The Lady Bandits have struggled against Kilsyth this season, and unfortunately will again be the underdogs this week. Plunkett, Harrington and Johnston have been the major contributors for Albury all season, but need another contributor to step up and be productive at the offensive end for the Lady Bandits to be successful. However they are a young team, and have improved dramatically throughout the season and have the ability to record the win this weekend.

Launceston "Integrated Training" Tornadoes vs Ballarat "Community Health" Lady Miners
On paper the Lady Miners will go into this contest as overwhelming favourites, having defeated Launceston in all ten matches between the two teams. Tornaodes are without Jasmine Finnigan for the remainder of the season due to an achilles injury, and her absence is a massive loss. Veterans Hays and Whitehead stepped up in her absence last week, but to be successful this week against Ballarat, coach Malcolm Gardner needs more than two players to score in double digits.

Knox Ford Raiders vs Albury/Wodonga "Telstra CountryWide" Lady Bandits
Knox Raiders Katrina Hibbert (19.9ppg, 6.1rpg, 4.2apg) is in sensational form coming off a player of the week performance, and a successful tour of China with the Opals in recent weeks. Her experience and leadership will be a major plus against the Lady Bandits this week, and if not contained at the defensive end has the ability to destroy the opposition on her own. Although the Raiders sit two games clear on top of the ladder, every game is important, and Raiders Coach Mark Holland will be taking a no holds barred approach against the bottom placed Lady Bandits.

Frankston "Aspect Packaging" Lady Blues vs Nunawading Spectres
Nunawading currently hold a four game winning streak against local rivals Frankston, including an 88-81 victory in round fourteen. Lady Blues McMeekan-Ruscoe (18.1ppg, 4.3rpg, 2.7apg) and Ofsoski (16.8ppg, 10.5rpg) played well in this contest, and will need to be at their best again this week if they are to secure the win and put a dint in the Spectres finals hopes. Frankston have been inconsistent all season, and although they can not make the finals, Coach Mark Ridgway will be keen to keep his girls fired up and make it hard for the teams above them to secure a finals position.
