Sam Armstrong - NW Tasmania Thunder
248 SEABL game veteran Sam Armstrong has had a difficult year this season, but had a great weekend on the road in Victoria this week to receive his first Player of the Week recognition this year. Armstrong averaged 31.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2 assists, helping his team end their disappointing losing streak with a successful 1-1 weekend.

Armstrong helped the Thunder record a surprising 100-96 victory over the second placed Bendigo after trailing the entire match, with a great 14pts in the final term. Sam finished the game with 28pts@42%, 4rebs, 2ass and 1stl. Sam is well known for his offensive talents, and recorded 35pts@45%, 1reb and 2ass on Sunday in the Thunders 99-117 loss at Frankston.

SEABL East Men Player of the Week

Chaz Briggs - Mildura Mavericks
Despite his team recording a 0-2 weekend result, US Import Chaz Briggs earns his third Player of the Week recognition this season averaging 40 points, 17.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists, and is a firm favourite for the end of season Most Valuable Player trophy.

Briggs played the entire 48mins against Albury/Wodonga, and was a consistent performer in each quarter to finish the game with 42pts@71%, 18rebs, 5ass, 1blk and 2stls. On Saturday night, Chaz started slowly, but improved in the second half recording 25pts, including a Free throw with only seconds remaining to tie the ball and send it into Overtime. Briggs finished with 38pts@55%, 17rebs, 8ass, 2blks and 2stls.

Other notable performances were:

* Geelong Supercats youngster Jason Reardon returned to his early season form with 23pts@56%, 10rebs, 6ass and 5stls in his teams 114-95 victory against Nunawading.

* Hobart Chargers Daniel George averaged 30.5pts, 11.5rebs, 1ass and 2.5blks on his teams disappointing 0-2 weekend in the Nations Capital. George had 32pts, 11rebs, 3blks and 3stls in the Chargers 95-129 loss against AIS on Friday night.

* AIS scholarship holder Patrick Mills was sensational in his teams 2-0 weekend against Hobart and Knox. Mills recorded 16pts@87%, 2rebs and 7ass against Hobart, and then followed up the next night with 20pts@67%, 4rebs and 8ass against Knox.

SEABL Women Player of the Week

Kathleen MacLeod - Nunawading Spectres
Australian Opal Squad member Kathleen MacLeod helped her team to a much needed 2-0 weekend and earns her first Player of the Week recognition for her efforts. Nunawading Spectres dynamite point guard relished the chance to compete against Australia's premier point guard in Kristi Harrower, and more than held her own in the contest. MacLeod finished the game with a SEABL career best 33 points @ 56%, 1 rebound and 5 assists, and guided her team to a 95-92 victory. The following day, Kathleen continued her impressive form with 24 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 blocks against Frankston.

Other notable performances were:

* Ballarat Lady Miners Deanna Smith averaged 30.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4 assists on the Apple Isle this weekend, helping her team to a 2-0 record and remain in finals contention.

* Jess Bibby guided the Kilsyth Lady Cobras to a easy 111-54 victory against Albury/Wodonga with 30 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 7 steals.

* Christa Hays was the lone ranger for Launceston on Saturday night, recording 29 points, 15 rebounds and 2 steals in the Tornadoes 53-79 loss to Ballarat.
