Grant played his first SEABL game on 15th April, 1994 with Ballarat Miners and recorded 10pts@50%, 6rebs and 3stls. 12 seasons later he has been rewarded for his hard work and persistence with a great achievement of becoming the 13th player and fourth this year to achieve the milestone of 300 games.

Keys played two seasons with the Ballarat Miners, and after losing the 1995 conference Grand Final helped his team reverse the result two weeks later to win the CBA National Title against Frankston. Keys averaged 16.25pts and 6.25rebs for the season, but decided to move to West Sydney for the 1995 season to pursue his dream of playing in the NBL.

Averaging 18.5 points and 10.1 rebounds in 1997, Grant received his first All SEABL team award. He helped his team to the conference Grand Final the same year, but was defeated by Dandenong. Keys was an integral member of the Slammers team and averaged 20.9 points, 9.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists in the 1998 season. He was rewarded with selection into the West Sydney Razorbacks inaugural NBL team for the 98/99 NBL season.

After missing the 1999 season, Grant returned to the SEABL with Bankstown Bruins for the 2000 season, but after one year moved to Canberra for work reasons and started the 2001 season as a member of the Canberra Gunners. Since joining the Gunners, Grant has received All SEABL team honours in every season (2001, 2002, 2003 & 2004) except last year, in which he only played 16 games. Keys retired after the 2004 season but missed the game too much and was soon back in the Gunners Blue and gold mid way through the 2005 season.

Keys was a valuable member of the Gunners team in 2003, averaging 28.5 points, 10.25 rebounds and 2.9 assists to finish runner-up in the Most Valuable Player award behind future NBA Draftee Andrew Bogut. Keys led his team to the Championship that same year. Grant also recorded his highest points score with 53 points versus Penrith on 5th July, 2003.

The following year, Grant displayed another all round performance and was rewarded for his efforts with the 2004 SEABL East Men Most Valuable Player trophy. Keys averaged 25.8 points @ 52% and 11.3 rebounds for the year.

After 301 career SEABL games Grant Keys currently ranks as the seventh best scorer and rebounder, having recorded 6149 points, 2672 rebounds, 726 assists, 269 blocks, 337 steals and a sensational 50% overall field goal percentage.

Grant will be presented with a Plaque recognising his achievement at the SEABL Grand Final this year. With his team currently sitting on top of the East Men Conference with a 16-8 record, it is highly likely he will be participating in the game, hoping to guide the Gunners to their second SEABL championship in four years.
