The league usually announces it's Coach of the Year Awards at its Annual Awards Dinner but brought the announcement of Coaches forward to coincide with the Announcment of Men's and Women's All Star Coaching Positions.

Darryl McDonald is in his first senior year of Coaching at ABA and Big V Championship Level. His Melbourne Tigers group have defied expectations finishing in fourth place with what was widely considered to be a group brilliantly equipped in the guard spot but without well known league stars at the forward position.

McDonald recruited former Latrobe City Pacer player Sedale Threatt Jnr and Threatt has been a significant factor in the side, vindicating McDonald's choice.

He, Corletto and Greer have brought the Tigers consistent wins, which sees them face Hume City this Saturday night at Mill Park in the elimination final.

Jeremi Moule wins his second successive Coach of the Year award.

Moule did a sterling job in 2005, taking the Wildcats to the ABA National semi-finals, after winning the Big V Championship.

In 2006, his team has gone from strength to strength, and with one week to go in Championship Women's competitions, they will contest the women's finals from second place, behind minor premiers Sandringham.

Moule lost consistent Eltham performer Kylie Steven to overseas travel in 2006, but has brought in Suzi Rayment and Hayley Munro, two players that have complimented an experienced group superbly.

The Wildcats conclude their regular season at Sandringham this Saturday night.
