Australian Andrew Bogut is set to play at centre for his NBA team the Milwaukee Bucks after they traded incumbent Jamaal Magloire to the Portland Trail Blazers.

The 21-year-old Boomer played at power forward in his rookie NBA season in 2005-06, averaging 9.4 points and 7.0 rebounds per match as he helped the Bucks to the playoffs.

But after Milwaukee was eliminated in the opening round of the playoffs by the Detroit Pistons, Bogut told team management he felt he would be better suited playing as a centre.

It would appear that the club has heeded its No.1 draft pick's advice with the news that Magloire is heading to Portland in exchange for point guard Steve Blake, forward Brian Skinner and centre Ha Seung-Jin.

In 82 matches last season for the Bucks Magloire averaged 9.2 points and 9.5 rebounds.
