The South Dragons have announced they will continue their search for a two guard after the club today advised import Christian Anderson they would not be extending his trial period.

Anderson, who joined the Dragons two weeks ago, will return to the US over the weekend.

“Unfortunately when choosing Christian, coach Mark Price hadn’t had the luxury of seeing our team together on court and upon seeing them over the past week it became apparent that Christian’s more of a three-man in the Australian league,” said chairman Mark Cowan.

“With the make-up of our team we have a lot of depth in that position and need more of a natural two guard.

“Christian’s professionalism, attitude and work ethic couldn’t have been better and in addition he’s a great person who fitted in well with the group, but the decision was made on his fit to the position.

“Over the next week we’ll begin the process of identifying replacements and intend to have an initial shortlist of candidates to work through next week."

The Dragons first pre-season clash will be on August 23 against the Cairns Taipans at Knox Stadium. The club also announced today a pre-season clash at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre against the Wollongong Hawks on Saturday September 2
