The Brisbane Bullets talented and deep bench has been dubbed themselves ‘G-Unit’ according to a report in the Courier Mail by Marco Monteverde.

Mark Bradtke, Mick Hill, Adam Gibson, Dillon Boucher and Brad Williamson make up the Brisbane reserve corps and they claim to have the "edge" over the Bullets starters in practice scrimmages during the season.

"If you lose you always hear about it and if you win, you tell them," said guard Gibson. "The Black (starting) team has maybe won two or three of late, but the Greys have the shield."

The Bullets bench have forged their own identity this season, making up the G-Unit name, having special T-shirts printed and even adding "G-bling" to their jewellery collection.

Brisbane veteran Bradtke said the G-Unit did its "thing" to ensure the starters stayed sharp.

"But we've all got our roles and we all know that we're there to support the starting five - they're the starters and we just try to fill in where we can."

Brisbane coach Joey Wright says the G-Unit’s battle with the Tigers own bench could well be the key to the Bullets winning their first title in 20 years.

"Their bench could probably start for a lot of other teams and it's the same thing with our bench,” Wright told Monteverde.

"Over time, in a five-game series, bodies do start to matter. Hopefully, we'll get the better edge."

The Tigers include back-to-back Best Sixth Man winner Stephen Hoare on their roster as well as key reserves Axel Dench, Nathan Crosswell, David Stiff and Daryl Corletto.

Bradtke predicted the series against his former team, which starts on Friday, would be “survival of the fittest".

"It's going to be a hard grind. There's not a lot of days off in-between, so we believe we've got a fit team and a strong team that can maintain what we've done throughout the year," he said.

"We don't have to do anything different.”

"As long as we do all the little things that have got us here, then we should be all right."
