Julia Tan will play her 250th career South East Australian Basketball League game this week, when her Knox Raiders team takes the court this Saturday night in the Elimination Final against the Ballarat Lady Miners at Knox Converse Stadium.

In her 249 games to date Julia is the all time SEABL Women leader in steals, having recorded 651 in her eleven seasons. Julia has also recorded 2106 points, 1255 rebounds, 565 assists and has a career free throw percentage of 63%.

Julia became the All time Steals Leader on Sunday 6th August this year against Albury/Wodonga in the last round of the regular season. Her steal on Lady Bandits Tenille Collins at the 8:30 mark in the first quarter, put her in front of past SEABL player Andrea Cartledge.

Julia joined the SEABL in 1996 with her junior association Nunawading Spectres as a 17 year old and scored 7 points and 2 rebounds in her first game on 14th April, 1996. 11 years later Tan is the ninth women to achieve the milestone of 250 SEABL Women games and will be presented with a Plaque recognising her achievement at the SEABL Grand Final this year. Having helped her team to the minor premiership this season, Tan will be hoping to guide her team to victory this week against Ballarat and seek revenge on Bendigo and grab her first SEABL Championship next week.

Julia played 154 games for Nunawading from 1996 - 2002, helping her club to the SEABL Grand Final in 2000, only to lose to Bendigo. Julia played a vital role at the ABA Nationals the same year, helping her team to the Grand Final, only to lose to Bendigo once again. Two years later Julia would carry a young squad at Nunawading to the finals once again, but were defeated in the first round. Julia was rewarded for her fine season with a position on the All SEABL team, and led the league in Steals with 3.5 per game.

The following year in 2003, Julia transferred to Knox Raiders, and has since played 95 games, and will look to make it to her second consecutive Grand Finals appearance with a win this week in her historical game.
