The Adelaide Pura Milk 36ers can confirm that they have agreed to terms with NBL superstar and South Australian, Brad Newley, and will finalise the agreement with NBL approval.

Newley, who has spent the past three NBL seasons in Townsville, is eager to return to his hometown and help rebuild the new 36ers franchise.

Newley has agreed to a three-year deal (two years plus an option year) and will line-up in the backcourt with 36ers captain, Brett Maher.

Born in February 1985, Newley represents an interest in local talent by club CEO Mal Hemmerling, joining Maher, Darren Ng and Matt Sutton as players who have grown up playing basketball in South Australia.

Though young, Newley has accrued some impressive achievements winning the 2005 NBL Rookie of the Year award and Best Sixth Man as well as being selected for the 2005 NBL All-Star Game. In that game, he scored 35 points and won the match MVP title.

In 2004, he was MVP of the Under 20 Junior National Championship and won gold in 2003 with the Australian U20 Emus in the World Championships for Junior Men.

He has also represented Australia and is a current Boomers squad member.

His signing, along with that of Adam Ballinger, makes another strong pick-up for the Adelaide 36ers and their 2007/08 campaign.
