South Dragons import Kavossy Franklin is primed and ready to play this Saturday against the Wollongong Hawks at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, pending clearance for the Sydney Kings championship winner.

The South Dragons expect to hear by close of business today whether or not Kavossy will be cleared to play.

Franklin, who’s been in Melbourne for almost two weeks, was sidelined for the Dragons first home pre-season game at Knox, and will be eager to impress the home fans at MSAC on Saturday.

MEANWHILE, veteran Darren Smith will suit up for the Dragons this weekend, as juniors Brent Hobba and Ash Cannan (Dandenong Rangers) and Dean Brebner (Geelong) participate in the national championships in Newcastle.

Wollongong are expected to run a full squad, including high-flying import Cortez Groves and NBL superstar Glen Saville.
