The Cleveland Cavaliers have continued to build around LeBron James with the signing of veteran free agent guard David Wesley. Wesley, 35, spent last season - his 13th in the NBA - with the Houston Rockets, averaging 9.9 points, 2.9 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 71 games.

"David adds a wealth of experience and professionalism to our team," Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry said.

"His defense, shooting and toughness will add to areas that we want to continue to grow this year." The Cavaliers hope that experience will come through in the play-offs, as James was forced to single-handedly carry the club at times.

Despite that fact, Cleveland nearly upset the Detroit Pistons in the Eastern Conference semi-finals, falling short in seven games. Wesley, who ranks ninth among active players in three-pointers made (1,114), has averaged 12.1 points and 3.7 assists in 55 career post-season contests.

The only undrafted player in league history to score over 11,000 points along with Moses Malone, Wesley has averaged 12.9 points, 4.5 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 914 career games with the New Jersey Nets, Boston Celtics, Charlotte and New Orleans Hornets and Rockets.
